ZB Cloud

The Cloud Router

Every job passes through the Cloud Router. It keeps the clouds allowed to run the job, checks live capacity, ranks by price, and keeps watching.

The Cloud Router is Maestro choosing the cloud. ZB Cloud runs what it chooses.

How it decides

  1. 1

    Describe the job

The job says what it needs: how many GPUs, how much memory, when it must finish and where its data lives.

  2. 2

    Filter by location and policy

Only clouds allowed to hold the data stay on the list. A policy is a rule set once, such as "patient data stays in Bangladesh".

  3. 3

    Check live capacity

Of those, the Router keeps the clouds that have the right machines free at this moment.

  4. 4

    Rank by price

The clouds left are ranked by what this job would cost on each, right now.

  5. 5

    Place, watch, re-place

The job goes to the top of the list. When price, capacity or location changes, the Router decides again and the job moves.

Example

Fine-tune an open model on clinic notes. It needs eight NVIDIA H100s. The policy says the data stays in Bangladesh.

If data center B's price rises above A's while the job runs, the Router places it again: the job saves its progress and continues on data center A. The same job with no location rule would have every kind of cloud on its list.

Four ideas behind it

IdeaMeaning
JobWhat to run and what it needs: the app or model, the GPUs, the memory, the deadline
PolicyWhere a job may run, how much it may spend and any other rules. Set once, applied to every job it covers
PlacementThe Cloud Router's decision: which cloud runs the job. Made again whenever price, capacity or location changes
RecordEvery job, with the cloud it ran on, when it ran and what it cost
